As stroke awareness month draws to a close, Williamson County stroke survivor Rich Davis wants people to know, a stroke can happen to otherwise healthy people.

"Having a stroke was nothing that I expected. My weight was fine, my health was fine I was having no issues at all."

And to recover fully, Davis knows first hand the importance of sticking with therapy., after getting out of the hospital.

"If you stroke and you don't do anything, for lack of a better term, you freeze up, because everything just kind of shuts down. And I was not going to let that happen to me."

SIH Neurologist Andrea Loggini says common stroke symptoms include a sudden loss of balance, loss of vision and slurred speech and when this happens 911 should be called immediately.
