CARBONDALE, Ill. – More than 600 visitors to Southern Illinois University Carbondale – about 300 prospective students and their guests – are registered to attend the July 21 Open House, based at Banterra Center. The free, daylong event includes a student panel, campus tours, housing tours, academic showcases and a resource fair.

High school and transfer students who would like to attend can visit Undergraduate Admissions website, email admissions@siu.edu or call 618-536-4405, said Sarah Jiter, director of undergraduate admissions. The open house will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Even if you live close to the university, you may be surprised by all the hands-on opportunities and personal attention SIU offers,” she said. “This is a great way to learn what it’s like to be a Saluki.”

Prospective students interested in joining the Saluki family this fall can still apply. Visit the Undergraduate Admissions website to learn more.

Editor’s note: Reporters, photographers and news crews who would like to cover the open house may ask for Sarah Jiter.
