The Black Chamber of Commerce of Southern Illinois hosts their 5th annual Black Business Expo this Saturday, February 8th. The Expo will be at the Carbondale Civic center from 10 to 3.
The event features 58 southern Illinois vendors. Admission is free and people can shop businesses selling things like clothing, food, jewelry, and personal care items.
Chamber president Chastity Mays says the event has gotten larger every year. She’s excited to see the way the businesses grow from year to year.
"Watching young people grow in their business; I always go back to Calvin Mennyweathers. He has CM Designs and Photography. I've just watched him grow. His headshots get better every year. His prints get better and more people are using him as a photographer.”
In addition to local businesses, community organizations will be at the expo displaying their services.
