"The Journey" by artist Dale McReynolds is on view at Carbondale's Artspace 304 starting this weekend.
The exhibition is a visual take on the African American experience from the Jim Crow era to now.
Dale McReynolds works with pastels on paper to frame her portraits like flashbacks or memories.
She opened Dale's Art Den in 2019, the first African-American-owned art gallery and studio in Metropolis.
Her artwork has been exhibited in Mayfield and Paducah, Kentucky, as well as Springfield, Herrin, and Harrisburg.
The exhibition's reception is on Saturday, February 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Artspace 304.
The event is free and open to the public.
