The John A Logan College men's basketball team came away with a national championship this weekend.
The Volunteers topped Northwest Florida State for the NJCAA Division One men's title - the first in school history.
The Vols went 33-2 on the season, with a 27-game win streak to finish at the top. They were the number one seed in the tournament, which wrapped up this weekend in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Curt Lewis scored 18 points to be the high scorer on Saturday for Logan, followed by Quimari Peterson with 15 points.
The team was welcomed back to town yesterday, and a more formal recognition is planned for later this week in Carterville.
