The man known as the Say Hey Kid and known for “The Catch” in the 1954 World Series passed away on June 18.

In his latest edition of Reading Baseball, Pete Peterson takes a look at the career of Willie Mays and two books inspired by his illustrious career.

Reading Baseball is a series of essays and commentaries by Richard “Pete” Peterson, co-author, with his son Stephen, of The Slide: Leyland, Bonds and the Star-Crossed Pittsburgh Pirates and the editor of The St. Louis Baseball Reader.

Richard "Pete" Peterson is the creative force behind WSIU Radio's Reading Baseball Series. Pete's original essays and commentaries are a regular staple for any fan of the game.
