The city of Mount Vernon announces town native McKenzie May as the new Director of Parks and Recreation.

The city of Mount Vernon announces town native McKenzie May as the new Director of Parks and Recreation. May has over 13 years of experience in recreation management in Southern Illinois, Kentucky, and Indiana.

May said, "Mt. Vernon is overflowing with potential, especially regarding our park development and recreation programming. I look forward to getting my feet on the ground and being a part of enhancing the quality of life for Mt. Vernon residents."

May most recently served as an Active Transportation Liaison for the Evansville Parks and Recreation Department. She advocated for bicyclists and pedestrians in the region, plus improvements to the city's infrastructure that would support those modes of transportation.

As the town's new parks and rec director, May will oversee city parks, trails, facilities, recreation programs, and partnerships in Mount Vernon. She will work with community partners and other staff to develop new park district programs for residents.
