The Pittsburgh Pirates have fired manager Derek Shelton.

The former Saluki player was in his sixth season in the Pirates dugout. He had a .410 winning percentage at 306-440. The team started this season with a 12-26 record, the 3rd worst record in Major League Baseball.

Pirates Bench Coach Don Kelly has been named manager.
