Grand Opening WRC-GAR collection at the General John A. Logan Museum
Sunday March 3, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm is the Grand Opening Celebration for the National Woman’s Relief Corp – Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Museum (WRC-GAR) collection at the General John A. Logan Museum in Murphysboro Illinois.
The WRC has moved its collection of artifacts to the General John A. Logan Museum as a permanent exhibit.
The WRC collection of artifacts includes:
• Civil War Battle Flag that was carried at Shiloh, Resaca, Atlanta, Tullahoma, Corinth, Nashville, Vicksburg, and other significant battles of the Civil War.
• The only surviving drum that beat the cadence for Robert E. Lee as he arrived at Appomattox to surrender to Ulysses S. Grant;
• Flag that was hanging in Ford Theatre the night that Lincoln was shot,
• Artifacts from Andersonville Prison,
• Many other unique items.
Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
