Dr. Glenn Poshard to Conduct Poetry Reading to Fight Hunger in Southern Illinois.
Dr. Glenn Poshard will be the featured presenter at the Wednesday, November 19, meeting of Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR). He will read from Poetry for Pantries where he explores life’s biggest questions—love, loss, faith and joy. Dr. Poshard is sharing his poetry to raise funds to fight hunger in Southern Illinois. Contributions to local pantries are appreciated.
Dr. Glenn Poshard is a former Illinois State Senator, U.S. Congressman, SIU President, and lifelong public servant. In 1999, he and his wife Jo established the Poshard Foundation for Abused Children, an all-volunteer organization funded entirely by private donations.
The SILIR monthly meeting is free and open to the public. The Meeting will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Chautauqua in Carbondale. The poetry reading begins at 10:30 am. A coffee and social hour begins at 9:30 am. For more information, you may refer to the website: https://conferenceservices.siu.edu/silir or call SIU Events and Outreach at 618-536-7751.
