Kay Rippelmeyer-Tippy will present on ”The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camps of Jackson and Union Counties, 1933-1942” at a special Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR) meeting on Wednesday, April 19, at 10:30 a.m. Rippelmeyer-Tippy’s 2015 book on the camps received the superior achievement award for scholarship from the Illinois State Historical Society. The meeting will be followed by a luncheon celebrating SILIR’s 25th anniversary.

The meeting and the luncheon will be held at Giant City Lodge, 460 Giant City Lodge Rd, Makanda, IL 62958. A coffee hour will begin at 9:30 a.m. The meeting is free and open to the public.
