SIUC Schools of Media Arts and Music present "Open Country", a new documentary that takes back country music as the music by and for the people.

What: Open Country is a cinematic journey into the working class roots of country music. It offers an antidote to corporate country that is full of spirit and spunk. Open Country is the revelatory 10-year effort of California filmmakers Jesse Drew and Glenda Drew, who will present the film in Carbondale.

The show opens with a solo act by Southern Illinois' own amazing singer-songwriter Hugh DeNeal (Woodbox Gang and the People V Hugh DeNeal).
