Illinois is awarding a $10 million grant to help the SIH Cancer Institute expand.
Governor JB Pritzker visited the Carterville facility last week to make the announcement.
Lori Merrill-Fink was also on hand for the governor’s announcement. Soon after retiring from SIU-Carbondale in 2018, she received treatment at the SIH Cancer Institute after being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer.
The grant is part of Rebuild Illinois, the state’s 45-billion-dollar capital construction program.
