People 55 and older in Jackson and Williamson counties are being recruited to join the the launch of the AmeriCorps Seniors Workforce program.
The program will train individuals to be Community Health Workers through at least 40 hours of training in nationally recognized core competencies in partnership with the Illinois Public Health Association. Also, job training will be provided through community organizations.
Participants must commit to 10 hours a week and volunteers have the opportunity to earn up to $1,400 during the six-month program.
The program will begin on September 30th at John A. Logan College in Carterville.
Those interested should apply by August 18.
