Only qualifying items will have a reduced sales tax.

Illinois' sales tax holiday starts on August 5th.

Qualifying items will have a reduced sales tax during the holiday. Clothes, shoes, and school supplies are all included. Clothes and shoes must cost less than $125 to qualify, but there is no limit on the cost for school supplies.

Electronics, including computers, art supplies, sports or recreational equipment and protective equipment do not qualify for the reduced tax.
