Eastern Illinois University in Charleston says its enrollment has gone up nearly four percent from last year.
EIU this week announced its official ten-day enrollment numbers, which show total enrollment up to about 7,800 students and freshman enrollment up 12-and-a-half percent to just under 900.
EIU also says graduate-level enrollment is up about four percent to more than 1,500 students ... the highest level since the fall of 2010.
EIU associate vice-president Josh Norman says in news release that the university has seen a large increase in freshmen who live within a 60-mile radius of the Charleston campus.
EIU also saw a 50-percent bump in four-year transfer enrollments from last year ... and a small increase in international students.
