On its Facebook page Wednesday, Murphysboro School District 186 says it sent a letter home to parents to answer some questions regarding a possible teacher's strike.
The Board of Education says it does not want a strike, and doesn't think one is necessary. But, if it happens, the Board will try to do what it can to minimize the disruption and inconvenience.
The school district letter asks for parents of students in Kindergarten to fifth grade to contact their school office to let them know if they would like to have non-teaching staff continue to supervise the children during the normal school day, even in the event of a strike.
If it's able to provide day care services, then the Park District will also continue its Latchkey program.
The Murphysboro Board of Education team says it will make an updated offer when negotiations with the teachers bargaining team and the federal mediator resume Thursday night.
