Illinois State Board Of Education Releases 2019 School Report Card

The Illinois State Board of Education released the Illinois School Report Card Wednesday.

Illinois has almost 4,000 public schools across the state.

The State Board of Education noted in its annual report card an increase in students taking college and career preparation courses.

State Superintendent Dr. Carmen Ayala (eye-al- la) says the state is focusing on college and career readiness for all students.

“Illinois’ future is bright and we compare strongly nationally.”

Dr. Ayala says the education funding reform contributed to the increase in achievements of Illinois students.

“Governor Pritzker’s budget included an additional $375 million dollars for evidence-based funding in fiscal year 2020, which largely goes to the least well-funded school systems.”

Schools districts across the state are committed to using the funds to enrich education and support for students.

“Many districts across Illinois have invested this new funding in educators, hiring additional teachers, social workers and councilors, reducing class sizes and investing in professional development.”

Dr. Ayala says that reinvestment is paying off.

“Illinois’ gain demonstrates that each and every child can succeed when provided rigor resources and academic, social and emotional support they need.”

Report cards for all Illinois schools can be found here.
