Carbondale Elementary District 95 holds a kickoff luncheon with community partners for a new Full-Service Community School model

Carbondale Elementary District 95 has received a $5 million dollar grant over 5 years to help implement a Full-Service Community Schools model by the new academic year this upcoming fall.

Five advisory groups will meet through the spring, with final planning to occur over the summer so the district is hopefully ready to roll out the Community Schools model at the beginning of the new academic year this fall.

WSIU's Brad Palmer talked with District 95 Superintendent Janice Pavelonis at the January 31 kickoff event to learn more about this new school model.

As a news producer and news anchor on All Things Considered, Brad provides the listeners with a recap of the day's top local and state news as well as breaking news at any given time. Contact WSIU Radio at 618-453-6101 or email wsiunews@wsiu.org
