Southeastern Illinois College will host the grand opening of the new Stanford D. Williams Career and Training Center on Tuesday, Aug. 5, from noon to 3 p.m. at 1700 College Ave. in Carmi.
The event kicks off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon in partnership with the Carmi Chamber of Commerce. Guests will hear remarks from college leaders and local officials, enjoy tours of the building, and light refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon.
“This facility represents our commitment to workforce development and access to high-quality training opportunities for residents in White County and beyond,” said Dr. Karen Weiss, SIC president. “We are excited to welcome the community into this beautiful space and celebrate all that it will offer our region.”
Named in honor of Stanford D. Williams, a respected Carmi leader and advocate for education and economic opportunity, the Williams Center is a vision long supported by educators and community leaders.
The event is open to the public.
