One local organization is asking residents to take part in a challenge for this year's spring cleanup.

Keep Carbondale Beautiful is hosting a virtual challenge. The organization asked people to pick up litter throughout town when they take a walk.
Executive Director Anne Krippestapel says she picked the right time since most people are home during the stay-at-home order.
"I thought this would be a really punchy way to kind of Get people motivated while also social distancing." Krippestapel said.
The group suggest participants to start on their own street or block for the friendly competition. The group hopes people continue to collect trash after the competition is over.
