U.S. Rep. Mike Bost says he is fighting to protect southern Illinoisans' right to access and enjoy one of regions greatest natural treasures.

The Murphysboro Republican introduced legislation to expand access to certain trails in the Shawnee National Forest for recreational ATVs, e-bikes, and off-road vehicles.

The Shawnee TRAILS Act would designate at lest 20 percent of the total number of trails in the forest for responsible recreational riding.

Bost says Shawnee National Forest is cherished for its many trails by local residents and with this bill it will open Shawnee to a whole new segment of visitors.
