The Neighborhood Co-op Grocery Farm Crawl is coming up on September 10th and 11th.
This weekend 15 local farms will open their doors to the attendees on a self-guided farm crawl where people can see how food is raised and harvested.
The goal is to connect local consumers with local sources of food.
The tour also serves as a fundraiser for Food Works, a non-profit working to create sustainable food economy in Southern Illinois.
Food Works Executive Director Jennifer Paulson says passes can be purchased from the Neighborhood Co-op through Sunday.
“People can purchase them at any register at the neighborhood co-op. And when you purchase your car pass, you can only do it in person because you will also get a booklet with descriptions of each form, a map, and also a tote bag with a few items in it.”
The farm crawl started in 2012.
