The Dayempur Farm in Union County is hosting an Herbal Medicine Workshop next week.
Dayempur Herbals General Manager Terry Hickey says much of today's medicine was derived from plants. She says the workshop is a great opportunity to learn how many common plants can help with such things as allergies, digestion, inflammation and more.
"One plant is called feverfew that is the original ibuprofen. A lot of doctors are saying if you have to take ibuprofen every day think about taking feverfew, it works better with your body."
Hickey says the workshop will include a guided tour of the medicinal herb garden, among other things.
"We will also be giving a talk on herbal remedies for the summer, which will include specific herbs that address health issues like heat, heart-health and summer colds."
The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, June 18 at 5 p.m.
The farm is located near Anna on Nubbin Ridge Lane.
