Flood the Bus Event Set for Friday to Help Alexander Co. Sandbaggers

Alexander County officials are begging for sandbaggers to help residents fend off spreading seep water.

Lots of water and other hydrating drinks are needed to help volunteers battle the heat.
Bobi Cavins with Southern Seven Health Department says getting water in a timely manner isn't as easy as you'd think.
"It was one of the county commissioners that had said they had ordered more water and drinks, but it takes like three days to get things in because it has to go through the chain, so we just said we'll get right on it and get some more."

So, the Southern Seven Health Department's Medical Reserve Corps plans to collect water and other products for sandbaggers in Alexander County. Cavins says the event is dubbed "Flood the Bus."
"We're going to take one of our Head Start buses to the Anna-Jonesboro National Bank in Anna on Main Street and try to fill it up with water, Gatorade and Powerade drinks for the volunteers and National Guard that are down there."
Cavins says once collected, the donations will be driven immediately to the sandbagging operations center in McClure.

The Flood the Bus drive is scheduled for Friday morning from nine to noon at A-J National Bank in Anna.
