As the COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the state and here in Southern Illinois. The Southern Seven Health Department is working to prevent the spread.
"we are working very closely with our regional hospitals, and making sure that they have the information that they need."
Shawnna Rhine with the Southern Seven Health Department says they're prepared.
"Like, like the rest of the country, we are in prevention mode, encouraging everybody to follow the steps that IDPA, the CDC and the President have issued, make sure you're following those and you're following those carefully"
Rhine says residents should continue to wash your hand regularly, and make sure you are following the six foot social distancing rule. But if you think you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, she says to contact your primary care provider first.
"do not go to the hospitals do not go to emergency rooms. Make sure that you're contacting your doctor first, they will screen you and tell you what you need to do."
