The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Missouri has jumped by nearly 300, even as calls for a statewide stay-at-home mandate increased.
The state health department said Tuesday 14 people have died and 1,327 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed.
In southeast Missouri, Perry County is reporting 18 cases of the virus, 16 of them are known to have been through contact. Cape Girardeau County is reporting 14 cases, six of them are travel-related with nine cases alone in the City of Jackson.
Misouri Gov. Republican Mike Parson has banned gatherings of more than 10 people but said Tuesday he's not yet ready to issue a statewide stay-at-home order.
KFVS reports a Cape Girardeau lung doctor, Keith Graham, is on a ventilator and doctors recently started a feeding tube to give him nutritional support. According to the Saint Francis Healthcare System, it's believed Dr. Graham did not contract it locally.
