As K-12 schools struggle to keep up with teaching, while at the same time keeping everybody safe from COVID-19, Pre-K programs are evolving as well. Shawnna Rhine is the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Southern Seven Health Department and Head Start.
"But right now when children come in to the facility we do require them to wear masks, as well as their parents. We do well checks with them, that include temperature checks."
Rhine adds for parents who prefer, Online Head Start and Early Head Start programs are offered as well.
These income-based programs are available for families living in the southern seven-most counties in Illinois.
You can hear more on how these programs are adapting to the new normal, next Thursday on WSIU InFocus.
