Illinois health officials and southern Illinois lawmakers are concerned about a COVID-19 outbreak at the Choate Developmental Center in Anna.
The facility that provides behavioral and psychiatric treatments is reporting 45 residents and 37 staff tested positive for coronavirus for a total of 82 cases in the past ten days.

In a news release, Choate, Senators Dale Fowler and Paul Schimpf, Representatives Terri Bryant and Patrick Windhorst, the Illinois Department of Human Services, AFSCME Council 31 and the Illinois Nurses Association all urged people to take the proper precautions to slow the spread of the disease.
