Area health departments are now offering COVID-19 boosters

The vaccine boosters are free.

Area health departments are now offering appointments for booster shots for all three COVID-19 vaccines.

Anyone over 18 who got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is eligible for a booster, if it's been 2 months since their initial shot.

Pfizer and Moderna boosters are available for those who got vaccinated at least 6 months ago and are high risk due to age, underlying medical conditions, or jobs that increase their risk of being exposed to COVID.

High-risk individuals may also choose to mix and match vaccines, getting a different brand of booster shot than their initial vaccine.

The Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department is offering vaccines appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in Marion, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Benton. The Jackson County Health Department is offering appointments Monday through Friday at their office in Murphysboro.
