Shawnee Preparedness and Response Coalition (SPARC) is pleased to announce an excellent training opportunity on August 6, 2024. SPARC will be hosting a Basic Disaster Life Support™️ (BDLS®️) class, offered free of charge. This 7.5-hour competency-based, awareness-level course is designed to introduce health professionals to essential concepts and principles for managing injuries and illnesses caused by disasters and public health emergencies.
The BDLS course emphasizes an "all-hazards" approach to mass casualty management and population-based care, applicable across a wide range of disaster scenarios. Participants will learn critical measures to ensure and enhance health workforce readiness, including scalable approaches to workforce protection, casualty management, mass casualty triage, and fatality management.
This course is ideal for health professionals seeking to improve their preparedness for disaster situations and to develop a consistent approach to managing large-scale health emergencies. By attending, participants will gain valuable knowledge and skills to better protect and serve their communities in times of crisis.
