The Southern Illinois 7 Health Department continues to raise awareness about the Hepatitis B Virus.

The Southern Illinois 7 Health Department continues to raise awareness about the Hepatitis B Virus. They encourage the public to get screened and vaccinated, as HBV can cause serious liver disease and possibly lead to cancer if left untreated.

While providing the vaccine to children and adults, the health department also works to educate the public on HBV causes and treatments.

This October, the Southern 7 renewed funding from the Center of Asian Health Equity and the Hope Light Foundation. These grants will help the Health Department provide resources for the public and high-risk populations.

The resources are distributed through area agencies, healthcare, facilities, schools, and other community partners.
