April was National Donate Life Month, and SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia has a longstanding commitment to supporting organ donation. This year on April 24, Mid-America Transplant hosted a flag-raising ceremony at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital to celebrate the donors and spread awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation.
Last year, St. Mary’s Hospital saved 600 lives with the help of tissue and cornea donors.
Officials of St. Mary’s Hospital raised the Donate Life Flag in memory of those who have passed and their selfless acts of organ donation. The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence and prayer.
