The US has a new center of population -- in Hartville, Missouri.
The center of population is the point on the map where the US would be perfectly balanced if every resident weighed exactly the same. US Census Bureau spokesperson Deirdre Bishop said one of the reasons determining the center of population is useful, because it is an indicator of where people are moving within the US and how fast.

Bishop said the center of population didn't move as much as in previous decades, because the US population has not grown as fast.
The Census Bureau calculates the center of population every ten years
