Update: Bank Robbery Suspect Identified

Authorities have identified the elderly man wanted in a Franklin County bank robbery.

Benton Police say he is 82-year-old Arthur Bays of Marion. Bays was taken into custody without incident Thursday afternoon in the 1100 block of West Main Street.
He is accused of robbing the State Bank of Whittington in Benton on Thursday morning.

Officers say they were told the suspect displayed a handgun in his waistband and demanded money from the bank teller. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. No injuries were reported.

The U.S. attorney says, if convicted, Bays faces up to 20 years in prison.
