A suspect was charged after a fatal shooting in Mt. Vernon. The Jefferson County State's Attorney's Office says 30 year old Traviel Gibson, is charged with three counts of first degree murder and one count of robbery.
Around 11 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the 1800 block of Cherry Street. A woman told officers a man attacked her and stole her cell phone.
When officers arrived, they discovered a man dead on the front porch and a second man, later identified as Gibson, in the home refusing to come out.
One officer suffered minor injuries taking Gibson into custody.
Gibson is being held at the Jefferson County Justice Center on $3 million bond.
A preliminary hearing is set for June 2.
