A man wanted in southeast Missouri has been apprehended in southern Illinois.

The Union County Sheriff's Department reports Cape Girardeau Police tried to arrest David Rains on a felony warrant Wednesday afternoon.

Rains fled the scene driving across the Mississippi River Bridge into Illinois.

He then continued into Alexander County across Grapevine Trail, Northbound on State Highway 127 into Union County.

Deputies say Rains' vehicle was disabled after he deliberately crashed into a Union County squad car.

He was ultimately apprehended in Jonesboro.

Rains remains in custody on a Missouri warrant for First Degree Burglary, Second Degree Domestic Assault and Second Degree Property Damage.

His Illinois charges now include but are not limited to Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Criminal Damage to State Supported Property, Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest, and numerous traffic offenses.
