A week long trial has ended in the conviction of a Carbondale man on First Degree Murder charges.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney reports 44-year-old Terrance Ware will be sentenced this spring.

On November 1, the Carbondale Police Department received a 911 call after an altercation between Ware and a man later identified as William Malachi Pittman.

Officers found Pittman lying unresponsive in the roadway with injuries to his chest. He died a short time later at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Ware left the scene and eluded police officers for multiple days before being taken into custody.
