Republican Illinois Senator Dale Fowler of Harrisburg was re-elected Tuesday night.
He says he's ready to get to work on some Southern Illinois projects like the Cairo River Port Terminal.
"We have the money in the FY19 budget that's actually been the first allocation of those funds and has been distributed to the Alexander-Cairo Port District. So, really excited about that, in fact I have a meeting in St. Louis next week with some consultants and some companies that are interested in investing in this terminal."
Fowler says he's ready to work with Republican Patrick Windhorst, who is the Massac County State's Attorney and winner of the 118th District House seat, over incumbent Democrat Natalie Phelps Finnie.
Fowler also says he's hopeful and optimistic about Democrat JB Pritzker as the new Illinois Governor and that he'll do his best to work side by side and hand in hand with the Governor-elect, just as he says he would with anyone else.
