Carbondale Police Talk Person Down From Rooftop

A person threatening to harm themselves was successfully talked down from a roof top ledge by Carbondale Police officers.

On Monday at 3 a.m., Carbondale Police responded to the 200 Block of West Main Street in response to a person suffering from a mental health crisis. Officers arrived to the scene and located the individual sitting on the edge of a roof threatening to jump.

Carbondale Police was able to talk to the person until the Fire Department assisted in bringing them down safely with a ladder. No injuries were reported.

The individual was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
