The Street Machine Nationals are back at the Du Quoin State Fair Grounds this weekend for the first time since 1998. The hot-rod car show was an annual fixture for more than a decade at the fairgrounds until Du Quoin City Officials got tired of the show and the kind of crowd it attracted to the area. The annual car show was held in several different locations in multiple states after it left Du Quoin.
Show officials say they believe enough time has passed and are happy to be back in southern Illinois. Officials with Car Craft say the show is more family orientated. Custom and classic cars of all shapes and sizes began rolling into the fair grounds on Thursday.
The show officially got underway Friday morning. It runs through the weekend.
