It's almost time for one of the premiere U.S. shooting events.
The Amateur Trapshooting Association's Grand American World Trapshooting Championships will be held this week in Sparta. More than 17,500 shooters are expected to compete in two dozen competitive events in southwestern Illinois.
Events will be held at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex, which has been home to the event since 2006. The event is 11 days long starting Wednesday.
Competitive events for younger shooters will be held through Tuesday.
