And the 17th annual Southern Illinois Alternative Gift Fair is December 4th from 2 to 5pm at the Civic Center. Over 20 non-profit organizations will offer gifts that matter. Enjoy live holiday music while you shop and mingle. Entry is free but donations for local pantries are appreciated and will be donated to local pantries in memory of longtime community volunteer and Alternative Gift Fair organizer, Margie Parker. In Marion, Union Street Arts is hosting a holiday art show and sale on Sunday, December 4 from 1-4pm with artwork from Tabitha Tripp’s studio. This one day art show and sale is free and open to the public. Tripp is a local artist, and will have various sizes of colorful abstract art at the holiday show. Tripp’s artwork will hang in Union Street Arts after Sunday’s Holiday show and will be available by appointment by calling Luke at 618-422-8868.

December 3rd is the kick off of the Carbondale Farmers Market as it moves inside University Mall for the winter months. There will be a wide variety of sustainably grown items and locally crafted goods. This season brings the new Kids Club Program, live music and even live cooking demonstrations featuring items from the market.
