In Marion, join the Race for Life 5K to support the local Fighting Cancer Today organization which aids cancer patients and caregivers in the region. The race is April 15th from 3 p.m.-7 p.m at Ray Fosse Park. Spectators are also welcome to enjoy activities and vendors at the event.

The Friends of the Shawnee National Forest, along with the U.S. Forest Service and Illinois Extension hosts a trash blast Friday, April 7 from 1-3 p.m. at Ripple Hollow along the Union/Alexander County line. Grabbers, buckets and trash bags will be provided. Please wear closed-toed shoes, bring your gloves, water and a snack, and your hard work. For more information, visit www.shawneefriends.org

Marion Carnegie Library will host free, one-on-one consultations with representatives of Shawnee Health Starting at 9 am on Thursday, April 6. To help you navigate Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance coverage questions. Appointments are recommended. While walk-in appointments are available on a limited basis, you can lock in your appointment by calling or visiting the library in person.
