Today is World Blood Donor Day. A day meant to raise awareness of the need for a safe, diverse and stable blood supply and to recognize volunteer blood donors.  To support the nation’s blood supply, you can donate blood locally.  Visit www.RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to schedule a time to give now.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois hosts weekly, all day summer programs through August 4th. The program will focus on exploring southern Illinois and its many outdoor treasures. The daily schedule is 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Additionally, Summer Brain Gain, a project based active learning program is each morning from 7:30 AM to 11:30 PM for kids in K through 8 and lunch is included. Registration online at www.bgcsi.org

Illinois EPA is sponsoring a free, one-day household chemical collection will be held at the Banterra Center (former SIU Arena), south parking lot on Saturday, June 24. Illinois residents can safely drop-off waste at the site from 8am – 3pm. To participate in the event residents must schedule an appointment online at www.jchdonline.org
