This is your WSIU Union Almanac for Thursday July 6 brought to you by Liuna, the Laborers International Union of North America, the Laborers local 773 and by Ullico Insurance and Investments.

This week in labor history in 1903 – Mary Harris “Mother” Jones begins “The March of the Mill Children,” when, accompanied part of the way by children, she walked from Philadelphia to President Theodore Roosevelt’s home on Long Island to protest the plight of child laborers. One of her demands: reduce the children’s work week to 55 hours.

Locally, Local 773 is inviting all Liuna members and their families to join them on Saturday July 15th at Mountain Dew Park in Marion, for a Thrillbillies baseball game. You must RSVP before July 10th by calling 618-993-5773 for Free game tickets and meal vouchers. Availability is first come first serve.

If you or someone you know is interested in a career as a construction craft laborer with all the advantages of the Laborers’ Union, look for details on the website, www.local773.com
