On this day in 1941 US President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivers "Day of Infamy" speech to US Congress a day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor

In Mt Vernon, Cedarhurst Center for the Arts hosts Supper with Santa in Mitchell Museum. The event is December 15th & 16th at 5pm. Families will enjoy a buffet dinner, craft activity, and the chance to merrily mingle and take photos with Santa. After dinner, walk  The Lights display. Children under 2 are free. In DuQuoin, see Millions of twinkling lights that make up the three-mile long drive-thru lights experience at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. The display is open through December 30. The first full three weekends in December, the fairgrounds Expo Hall transforms to a winter wonderland with activities and entertainment for children and adults alike.

The 13th Annual Christmas in Carterville has been rescheduled due to weather. The event has been moved up a day and will take place tonight from 5 to 8pm in the downtown area from Grand Avenue to Anderson Street.
