Sierra Club Shawnee Group Annual New Year’s Day Stone Soup Picnic on Monday, January 1, 2024 11AM - 3PM at Giant City State Park, Shelter 2. Contribute pre-cooked vegetarian ingredients for the soup pot. Bring a side dish to share, your beverage, and a reusable soup bowl and eating ware. Eat at noon. Hike if you like following lunch. In DuQuoin, see Millions of twinkling lights that make up the three-mile long drive-thru lights experience at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. The display is open through December 30. If visit on the first full three weekends in December the fairgrounds Expo Hall transforms to a winter wonderland with activities and entertainment for children and adults alike.
