The Williamson County Early Childhood Cooperative is hosting Preschool Screenings for the upcoming school year. Game-like activities for children will measure their development, growth, hearing, vision & speech. All families with children ages birth to five are encouraged to attend, regardless of income. The screenings will be March 4-7th in Carterville, Herrin, Johnston City, Crab Orchard & Marion. Appointments are required.  In Murphysboro, attend the Grand Opening Celebration for the National Woman’s Relief Corp on Sunday March 3, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. See the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Museum (WRC-GAR) collection at the General John A. Logan Museum. The permanent exhibit will include many artifacts and unique items of interest. Civil War Battle Flag, a civils war drum, the Flag that was hanging in Ford Theatre the night that President Lincoln was shot and more. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

 In Mt Vernon, Casa of Jefferson County is offering volunteer training. Become an advocate for children in the foster care system. Training is on Tuesday evenings from 5 to 8 pm. Meals are provided but registration is required. Learn more at www.jeffcocasa.org
