The region is enjoying the eclipse and all the activities that it brings throughout the day today. Although there will be other solar total eclipse experiences across the nation in a couple of decades or so, the next total solar eclipse in Illinois won’t occur until 2099.
If the eclipse has peaked your interest in science, consider attending the 3rd Annual Family Eco Festival at Alto Vineyards on April 27th from 1 to 5pm. Teachers with the SIU River Region Master Teaching Fellows Program will host a fundraiser for Innovations in STEM Education. Money raised from the event will fund grants to distribute to local teachers in need of science materials. Hands-on science stations at the event will include tardigrades and microscopes, information on habitats, environmental education, and arts and crafts. There will be live music, vendors, and food offered throughout the day. Fundraising includes a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and donations. This is a family-friendly event with fun to be had for all ages!
